Philosophy & Goals
Philosophy
At the Burlington Dance Academy Preschool, we believe that young children learn through play. By providing an exciting, stimulating environment children will be encouraged to explore their world and develop cognitively. A loving and secure environment will teach children that school is a safe place to interact with adults and peers thus developing their social skills.
When a wide variety of challenges are available, children will also develop their motor skills and confidence.
Goals
To develop the child’s independence
To develop the child’s self-confidence
To develop cognitive skills and problem solving
To develop the child’s fine and gross motor skills
To develop the child’s communication and social skills
To develop the child’s listening skills.
Throughout the year, we plan our everyday curriculum to include activities that will assist the children in developing skills needed for future school experiences. As the children’s age and maturity level permits, they will be introduced to activities that develop math and reading skills, such as recognizing and identifying numbers, shapes, colours, and letters and their sounds. They are also encouraged to print their names and produce short stories or descriptions of their artwork.
